Overview: Providing opportunities for social engagement is crucial to providing true person-centered care. In this session, we will explore the impact volunteers can have on the overall sense of health and well-being of those receiving home care and hospice services. Presenters will share best practices for creating and maintaining successful volunteer programs that provide meaningful opportunities for connectedness among those served.

Ellen is a Community Programs Specialist for the IMPACT Center at the WSU Community Engagement Institute. She is passionate about folks getting involved in their communities, and about supporting programs that work to serve others well. Her own experience as a hospice volunteer and volunteer coordinator have led to her involvement with the IMPACT Builders project at WSU. Ellen is a firm believer that successful programs must look at the bigger picture, and that appropriate training for all staff and volunteers is vital to building sustainable programs that make a difference.
Teresa Cornejo, LMSW, MSOD, IMPACT Center at Wichita State University Community Engagement Institute, Wichita, KS
Teresa is passionate about the human experience in organizations. She is Director of the IMPACT Center and a founding member of the Trauma-Informed Systems of Care team at Wichita State University's Community Engagement Institute. Teresa has content expertise in trauma-informed care, leadership development, effective supervision practices, community and volunteer engagement and the power of peer support, receiving numerous requests for speaking, training and consulting engagements. Since 2007, she has worked with organizations representing nonprofit, healthcare, behavioral health and education to strengthen their capacity to implement trauma-informed practices with staff, leadership and the people they serve.

Cancellations: Fees will be refunded only if written cancellation is received prior to the workshop webinar link being sent to your agency. In the event of a written cancellation, KHCHA will retain $25 of the initial registration fee to cover administrative overhead.
